Paul Martin: Reference Section
Projects...
At present this page simply indicates some areas of study in which there are
many interesting open problems, some of which are suitable for PhD projects.
(Some such areas are furthermore suitable for PhD projects with PPM as
supervisor.
PPM is, potentially, a confusing kind of PhD supervisor, because
he is interested in more than one research area. So a `research area' is not
only a unified collection of scientific material, but also a
motivating aim, ...and also an ethos!
For example PPM is interested in aspects of algebraic representation theory,
and also in aspects of computational statistical mechanics.
These are related areas. But it is not helpful to confuse them.
As a researcher you should know what your research aims are,
and these two areas have different aims!)
